John P. ThunderHawk Carney III, 37, of Vineland passed away on Thursday afternoon, July 26, 2012, in South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center, Vineland, where he had been a patient for the past six weeks.
John was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late John P. and Shirley A. (Harmon) Carney. He had grown up and attended public schools in the Philadelphia area, and had been a resident of this area for the past 20 years.
John held a master's degree in psychology and was employed as a unit director for Elwyn New Jersey in Vineland, where he had been employed for the past 16 years. He loved traveling and weightlifting, and was an avid Eagles football fan. He was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton and was proud of his native heritage. John loved reading, especially the Bible, which he read in full several times. He also enjoyed watching movies, but he especially loved spending time with his family, especially his many nieces and nephews, and being around people in general. He always had a positive outlook on life and will be truly missed.
John is survived by his four sisters, Sarah E. Pierce of Millville, Shelly Ann Carney and Santos Ramos of Millville, Lisa M. Siner and her husband Wilson of Collingswood, and Angela L. Durham and her husband Luther of Millville; his one brother, Guy Warren Harmon and Julie Caldwell of Vineland; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Warren B. and Sarah E. (Mosley) Harmon, and his paternal grandparents, John P. Sr. and Elizabeth (Ridgeway) Carney.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from St. John United Methodist Church, Fordville. The Rev. John Norwood will officiate. The interment will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Township.
Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sray-Webster Funeral Home, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll's Corner, Upper Deerfield Township, and again on Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church, prior to the services.

As we lay our love one to rest, let's remember that God only takes us home when our work here on earth is done. Jackie touched a lot of lives in a way that only each of us know within ourselves. I will always have my memories of the time I spent with Jackie when he was a young kid. He made me laugh evertime I seen him with all the crazy stunts he did, Jackie always had a special way of making you feel special to him. I will miss the body that walked here on earth with me but his spirit will always live within my heart.
Psalm 145: 18-19
The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him, he also hears their cry and saves them.
God has heard Jackie's cry and has saved him from the pain that was inflicting is body.
Rest well Jackie

Sarah, praying for peace for your whole family. I cant imagine how your feeling right now. I keep remembering how many times we had really deep conversations about God, religion, education, so many things throughout the years...I was so proud of him when he finished Lincoln, and was happy to hand him my books.Once I suggested something for his program, he ran with it. He did not need my help. I am sad to see a bright star leave so soon...God Bless you all.
