John Marcacci Obituary

John Charles Marcacci

AGE: 62 • Rustburg, VA

John Charles Marcacci, 62, of Rustburg, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. He was the loving husband of Pamela Marcacci for 30 years. John was born on January 12, 1955, in Vineland, N.J. to John J. and Rita Marcacci.

John was a resident of Vineland for 60 years before moving to Rustburg, Va. in 2015. He graduated with honors from Vineland High School. He received an associate's degree in Marketing from Cumberland County College. Growing up, John worked as butcher at Marcacci Meats, the family business. From 1982 to 2007, he was co-owner of Marcacci Meats with his brother Ted. After selling the business, John continued to work as a butcher at Bringhurst Meats in Berlin, N.J., Food Lion in Lynchburg and Elba Butcher Shop in Gretna until being diagnosed with cancer last October.

He attended Faith Bible Church in Vineland for 55 years and was an active member. There he served as an usher, a deacon, a youth leader, a children's church teacher and played on the men's softball team. John and his wife held monthly chapel services at the Atlantic City Rescue Mission for 28 years. He was a kind and generous man who loved helping others. He was a volunteer literacy tutor at local libraries in Vineland, Lynchburg, and Faith Bible Church. He also volunteered at the Hyland Heights Baptist Church food pantry. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, gardening, reading and traveling. He and his wife enjoyed ministering together on foreign mission trips. John loved and served the Lord his whole life and is now in his heavenly home with his Savior.

In addition to his wife, Pam, left to cherish John's memory are his daughter, Amber Rosney (Kevin); his stepson, Michael Lowman (Jamie); three brothers, Tom Marcacci (Nancy), Ted Marcacci, and Steven Marcacci; two grandsons, Clayton Rosney, Wyatt Lowman; many nephews, nieces, cousins, other family and friends; and his loyal canine companion, Sandy.

A Celebration of John's Life will be held at Hyland Heights Baptist Church, Rustburg, Va. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at the Tree of Life Cemetery, Altavista, Va.

Pam,
Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family in this time of loss. Nancy and I could hardly believe the news of John's sickness when Jenn told us circa last holiday season. I have many great memories of John serving as deacons together, playing softball many years, and just plain good friends for over 50 years. He will be missed until we're re-united in heaven!
