John "J.J." Romano Jr., 40, known to those closest to him as J.J., passed away suddenly on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011.
He was a graduate of Vineland High School, a graduate of Cumberland County College and Rowan University. Born and raised in Vineland, for the past two years John was employed at the Law Office of Seymour Wasserstrum as a legal assistant in the loan modifications department. Colleagues and clients alike will remember him for "going above and beyond to help others in need." John also worked part time as a catering organizer for the Beth Israel Synagogue. He loved to socialize, ride horses, dance, sing and take trips to the casino. He enjoyed living life to the fullest and will be remembered by loved ones as having a smile that could light up any room.
He is survived by his mother, Jean Romano; brother, Eddie Maddalena, both of Vineland; three nephews, Matthew, Jimmy and Joe; two nieces, Danielle and Carol; and several cousins. John is predeceased by his father, John Romano Sr. of Vineland; brother, Vincent Romano; and sisters, Carol Marandino and Lori Maddalena. "J.J. lit up my life, if love could keep him alive, he would live forever."
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be private. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland.

My deepest sympathies to the family of JJ. I will always remember him fondly as the smiling, friendly little third grader. I was fortunate enough to meet up with JJ during one of the catering events at Beth Israel Synagogue and catch up on his life. I will place JJ's name on the memorial tree at Durand Elementary School and find his picture in my class photos to put in the Memorial book along with his obituary. I will work hard to put this together in the next several weeks. JJ will not be forgotten...Sincerely, Marion Blakeman, JJ's third grade teacher at Durand School.

J.J.-Your soul was always kind and the world is missing someone who had so much more to offer. It is our loss here not to have you in our presence, but it is God's gain to have you in his grace. You will be missed by many.

"My First Christmas in Heaven"
I see t...he countless Christmas trees around the world below
With tiny lights like heaven's stars reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular please wipe away that tear
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you of the joy their voices bring
For it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I can't tell you of the splendor or the peace here in this place
Can you just imagine Christmas with our Savior face to face?
I'll ask him to lift your spirit as I tell you of your love
So, then pray for one another as you lift your eyes above.
Please let your hearts be joyful and let your spirit sing
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

Jeanne:
My sincerest condolences go out to you and the rest of your family. No mother should have such pain as in losing a child. Not once, but three times.
You are in my thoughts and prayers and, I know you have faith in Our Lord, that He has a purpose and a reason for this. May he sustain you now.... and forever.
Your friend and co-worker,
Becky

To the entire Romano family:
I am so saddened to hear of this wonderful young man's passing and how difficult it must be for all you to celebrate Christmas while mourning the loss of this vital family member.
May the Holy Spirit comfort you and endear J.J.'s memory in your hearts and may his warm, loving smile encourage you to do great things in his honor.
May the Lord walk with you and share the deep passions of His heart for you and bring you peace and comfort like only He can bring.
My heart and prayers are with you, especially Mayor Bob.
