Marlene Lenker, widow of the late James Eugene Lenker Sr., entered into eternal rest on the evening on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, in Charleston, S.C.
Mrs. Lenker was born July 4, 1933, at home in Haleyville. She was the youngest daughter of Austin Hiles and Annette Hampton Hiles. Mrs. Lenker was a 1951 graduate of Millville High School and worked as a legal assistant until her marriage in 1954.
Jim and Marlene were avid ballroom dancers and frequented many dancing venues in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. But their most beloved was the Riverview Inn of Pennsville, where they could be observed "dancing the night away" most Friday or Saturday nights. They even had their "personal" area at the bar. All who knew them loved their enjoyment of the dance.
Marlene is survived by her son, James "Jimmie" Eugene Lenker Jr. and his wife Diana of Jacksonville, Fla.; Katherine "Kathy" Lenker Martin and husband John Louin Martin Sr. of Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren, Travis James Lenker of the U.S. Navy, Laura Elaine Lenker Murr of Jacksonville, Fla., and James Austin Carney of Charleston, S.C.; three stepchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sept. 17, 2011, in Methodist Church, Route 49, Shiloh, and a graveside service at a later date in Haleyville for both Jim and Marlene.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association of one's choice.

I had the pleasure of being in your mother's company many times while visiting my Uncle Bill and Aunt Gretchen. Your mother was a sweet lady and I will never forget her smile.
