MICHAEL GUADAGNO Obituary

Michael Victor Guadagno of Ocean City passed away suddenly Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point.

Formerly of Bound Brook, he moved to Vineland and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1953. He attended Drexel University and then served honorably in the U.S. Army. Ever an entrepreneur, Mike joined his parents in operating The Spot Pizzeria in Vineland, along with the Second Look, an upscale women's clothing store. He and his family moved to Ocean City and operated Coach's Casino and MicDono's Restaurant on the Ocean City boardwalk. He then became an owner of Wally's Cafe in North Wildwood and Maggie's Carolina Cafe in Atlantic City.

For 35 years, Mike owned and operated the landmark Moores Inlet in North Wildwood. It was not only a popular destination, but also a frame of mind for generations of families. Moores lives on in the hearts and minds of those fortunate to join in the fun times, always feeling at home when entering its doors and enjoying Mike's ever-present magnetic smile, warm handshake and larger-than-life personality. He retired five years ago after selling the property, and now on the site is a luxury condominium complex, The Pointe at Moores Inlet.

Mike was very active in the city of North Wildwood, promoting events that enhanced the quality of life in North Wildwood and the surrounding communities. He was one of the original organizers of Capital Bank of New Jersey. This was after he retired. His valiant attempt and extreme hard work in bringing minor league baseball to North Wildwood was met with great enthusiasm, but never came to fruition. His generosity was boundless. His benevolence was unprecedented and endless. He was a proud conservative Republican. He loved his family and friends, and truly enjoyed his life to the fullest. He was one in a million and will be sorely missed by all the lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy (Williams) Guadagno of Ocean City; daughter and husband, Anita and Clyde Lince; grandson, Michael "Mikey" Lince; sister, Theresa Winslow; sister and husband, Marguerite and Ron Koons; brother-in-law, Charles Williams; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral home visitations will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E. Chestnut Ave., Vineland. A funeral liturgy will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday from Sacred Heart Church, 1010 E. Landis Ave., Vineland. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Vineland.

Arrangements are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E. Chestnut Ave., Vineland, NJ 08360.

John and I wish to express our condolences to Mike’s family on his recent passing. In sharing the news of Mike’s untimely death with many throughout the Wildwoods this week, the words, 'great guy','class act','always smiling','nicest person' are being spoken. However, the words that make the top of everyone’s list are 'true friend'. How could one person have so positively affected so many lives? That was just Mike’s way. He made us and every member of our family feel special. We truly feel blessed to have been a part of Mike’s “Moore’s family”. He will forever be in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so sad for Mike's family. I've had the privilege of knowing Mike through my paper, The Sun (in Wildwood) where I have worked with him on stories about Moore's. I saw him a couple of weeks ago and took his picture. It was published the day of his passing. His smile was contagious! God bless you all as you mourn.

Mike was absolutely awesome, a "One of a Kind" gregarious warm-hearted person. I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Mike as a bartender at Moore's from 1978 to 1983. What was so unique about Mike was that he had a gift of just bringing out the best in people. Mike ALWAYS made you feel like part of the Moore's family, rather than just an employee. I can honestly say that I've never worked for anyone else like him... he was more like a father-like figure than a boss. He made my years there some of the most memorable of my life. After hearing of his sudden passing, I've been thinking about him throughout this entire July 4th weekend.... years later, his personality was that profound. My deepest sympathy to Nancy, Anita and Clyde, and all other family and friends. Mike was truly a model example for others. He showed that you can be successful in life, while being a classy and charming person at the same time. God Bless Mike and his family. He will be missed.

Nancy, Anita, Clyde, MIkey, and Family,

There are so many wonderful things to be said about Mike and his many qualities, but what is the most prevalent to me was his ability to love people. That was what is was about for him and everyone should take a lesson from him because in his dealings with people, Michael always brought his A GAME. We all will miss him so very much.

Dear Nancy, Anita, Clyde, Mikey and all of Mike's extended family,
I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. What a great guy! Just to be in his presence was fun. The minute you saw him and his huge smile you waited for the big hug that you knew was coming. He never disappointed, he always made your day! I always left Mike with a smile as big as his and the smell of his cologne made you think of him and smile all day. I am so very sorry for your loss. We have all lost a wonderful friend, a gentleman. My prayers are with you.

Mike was a real gent. I don't know if I have ever worked for a kinder or more fair man. He helped build a great community around Moores and he served it well. He was a great friend of Blackthorn and was always there for us when we needed his support. He will be dearly missed.

Mike was one of the kindest, most giving men I have ever met, and I was fortunate enough to call him my friend. I first met Mike back in 1979 when my brother Clyde met, and fell in love with, his daughter Anita in college. Upon our initial meeting, it was evident that Mike's energy and enthusiasm was contagious. His smile could light up a room. I will be forever grateful to have gotten to know him. The world is a better place because Mike was in it.

Nancy, Anita, Clyde and Mikey,
Words can never express the sadness we feel for your loss. Michael was truly one in a million. He treated our son Vincent as his own grandson. He was a positive influence in Vincents life. For that we are eternally grateful. You have lost a good friend, father and grandfather but you have gained a guardian angel. We are all blessed to have known him. Michael will be sadly missed. You will all be in our prayers.
