Nancy Douglas Obituary

Nancy Douglas

Cedarville - Nancy (Ford) Douglas, age 60 of Cedarville, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday afternoon, November 25, 2018. She had been in declining health.

Born and raised on 5th Street in Millville to the late John and Eula (Brown) Ford, Nancy graduated from Millville High School, Class of 1976. She became a licensed practical nurse, first working at Millville Hospital. Once South Jersey Regional Hospital in Vineland opened, she then continued her devoted career of caring for others there. For the last 10 years of her career, she worked at Genesis Millville Center, and retired.

Nancy loved riding with her husband, Ron, on their Harley, camping, gardening, and decorating her home. She also enjoyed canoeing and kayaking with her family in West Virginia and Tennessee. Nancy truly cherished the time that she was able to share with her family. She especially loved spending time together outdoors at many family BBQs and events over the years, as well as traveling on many trips around the country. The family would like to say a special thanks to Lindsey Hughes and the Bayada Nursing Team for the wonderful care that Nancy received. Also a heartfelt thank you to sister neighbor Peggy Beebe.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of over 40 years, Ronald Douglas of Cedarville; two sons, Ron Douglas and wife Laura of Millville and Zachariah Douglas and wife Melissa of Millville; one daughter Megan Douglas of Millville; three sisters, Sue Dera of Morristown, TN, Janice Hunter of Greenville, TN, and Kathy Noe of Morristown, TN; two brothers, Mark Ford of Morristown, TN and Hershal Jenkins of TN; five grandchildren, Alivia Douglas, Abby Douglas, Jackson Gras, Hannah Douglas, and Lily Douglas; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers, Fletcher Ford, John Ford, Jr., Whitey Ford, Ernie Ford, and Glen Jenkins.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 12 noon in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Family and friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville.

On this Anniversary of Nancy becoming an Angel, I pray for continued peace and comfort to the Douglas family and her siblings. I grew up with the Ford family and worked with Nancy bath at Millville Hospital and 10 years at Genesis. I remember discussing her applying to Genesis and she brought such professionalism and love to the residents. Missing you and our friendship always.

To the Douglas and Ford families. I am so sorry to be writing this condolence belatedly. I truly just found out today of Nancy's passing. Nancy and I knew each other many years and worked at Millville Hospital, Newcomb Hospital and Genesis on Unit 2. She truly was the definition of "A Nurse" and loved her profession no matter the stress, blood, sweat and tears. My family, (Cox) grew up on 7th and Mulberry St. Our families knew each other growing up. Anyway, I'm so sorry I wasn't at viewing or funeral. I left Genesis in 2016. She will always be remembered for her kindness, compassion and knowledge of how to nurture and help heal her patients. She loved her family and expressed such pride, especially the grandchildren. I will pray for your healing and comfort. Sincerely, Brenda McNiss

I am so sorry for your loss. Nancy was a kind and gentle, loving soul who brought comfort and compassion to the many she ministered to with a servant's heart throughout her career. I hope her entire family finds comfort and peace in the fact that she is now in God's loving embrace and no longer in pain or suffering. My deepest sympathies and prayers to all of you. Love, Pat and John Vavra
