Nicholas Gazzara Obituary
Nicholas J. "Nick" Gazzara III, 18, of Buena Vista Twp. passed away suddenly on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 16, 2010, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident, caused by severe road conditions in Buena.
Nick was born in Woodbury on Oct. 24, 1992, and resided in Newfield and later in Buena Vista Twp.
Nick attended St. Mary's Grammar School and was a member of the 2011 Senior Class of Sacred Heart High School. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Lions soccer team and was just named the 1st Team of the Press All Star Team. He also made All CAL, All South Jersey and All State.
He broke three soccer records this year. The school record for the most goals in one year is 42 goals; his career record was 81 goals. He also broke a consecutive record, held by Glen Carbanaro back in the '80s, for scoring in 21 consecutive games; Nick extended that to 26 consecutive games and currently holds the record.
A quote from his dearest friends: "To many, Nick will be remembered as a South Jersey soccer legend, but to those who are nearest to him, he leaves a legacy of always living life to the absolute fullest. In Nick's 18 years here, he was able to make a profound impact on thousands of lucky lives. Always fun and the most loyal friend, Nick was the proverbial life of the party."
He was an amazing son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to all. He will forever be remembered, missed, and loved. "GO NICKY GO."

He is survived by his mother, Lynda L. (Iapalucci) Gazzara; father, Nicholas J. Gazzara Jr.; two brothers, AJ and Christopher Gazzara; paternal grandfather, Nicholas J. Gazzara Sr.; maternal grandfather, Alfred G. Iapalucci Sr., and maternal grandmother, Juanita E. Iapalucci.
Predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Florence Gazzara and his sister, Casey Nicole Gazzara.
Relatives and friends will be received from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday. His funeral liturgy will be celebrated at noon in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 1010 E. Landis Ave., Vineland, with burial to follow in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Union Road, East Vineland.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Nick Gazzara Memorial Soccer Scholarship Fund, 179 Lincoln Ave. Vineland, NJ 08360.

when a loved one leaves us suddenly and unexpectedly we find ourselves in a state of shock, a feeling in which turns into anger and frustration. I feel your pain as you go through these days, as i am feeling the pain as well. Remember your son as I am trying to remember my father, with a smile and a big bear hug. I played for PHS and we played SHHS about a month before Nick died. I played him and I was amazed by his talent. I was really hoping to see him being a great professional player. I'm so sorry for your loss, and wish you the best.

When I first saw the picture of Nicholas in the Press of AC, my first thought was, "what a handsome young man and what kind eyes he has." Then I read the article and my heart sank. As a mother, I cannot begin to wrap my mind around the grief your family is enduring at this time. Nick would have played with my son this season on the Voorhees soccer team. We did not have the honor of meeting your son.
My wife and I cannot even begin to imagine the depth of grief and sorrow in your hearts. It is trite to say that this could not have happened at a worse time of year. The sad truth is that, whenever something like this happens, it suddenly becomes the worse time of year for it to happen.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you now. This year, my wife and I will hug our children just a little bit tighter and a little longer … and we will surely remember that we did so.

Dear Gazzara family, Although we don't know you personally our kids attended saint Mary's with Nick. Our oldest was 2 years ahead of him and our daughter Alyssa (of whom has been friends with Nick), was a grade below him. Our son is also a high school soccer player and he and his fellow soccer friends in Burlington County are stunned, saddened and forever changed by the untimely death of Nick.
