Roger George Doody Sr.

Roger George Doody, Sr., 74 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013, at North Oaks Medical Center. He was born on Monday, August 28, 1939, in Tenafly, New Jersey. Mr. Doody worked in the insurance business for 46 years and was Vice President of Stone Insurance Company for 26 years. He served in the United States Air Force for 6 years and was Airman of the month during November 1961. He was also a volunteer fireman in Slidell, Louisiana. Roger was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and was very giving. He never met a stranger. His passion was spending time outdoors with family and friends. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Joyce Jenkins Doody; daughter & son-in-law, Tracie and Robert Coon; son & daughter-in-law, Roger and Leigh Anne Doody, Jr; 5 grandchildren, Cameron and Connor Doody, and Caitlin, Mary Rogers, and Will Coon; 2 sisters, Lorraine McIntire and Carolanne Gleber; also numerous nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Myrtle Newman Doody. Friends will be received Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond and will resume on Wednesday at 8:00 am. Services will be held in funeral home chapel at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Interment will follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery.
