I knew Russ from the sports memorabilia shows. I first met him around 1990 at the old Willow Grove Show in Pennsylvania. I believe he was accompanied by his long-time friend (Kevin Danna). We immediately hit it off and that started what would amount to a (30)+ year friendship. I was very saddened to hear about his passing. I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to his family. He was a giant of a man who touched all those who knew him.

Uncle Russ was definitely one of a kind! He was so sweet and very cheerful, always had a smile on his face! I always looked forward to Thanksgiving at grandmom Chappius’s house because that is definitely the one time out of the year when I got to see Uncle Russ & Aunt Bev! They were the role models for the most fun, loving and caring couples you will ever meet! Uncle Russ will truly be missed! And I’m sure he will continue to look over his family until everyone meets again ❤

Dear Bev, Russell, Scott and grandchildren,
We were sorry to read of Russell's passing. Whenever we would see him over the years, he was always so friendly and outgoing! His contribution to the community and his talent as a sportsman will always be remembered. He was gracious and thoughtful to many people, as you all know.
He was especially kind to our son, Kyle when he was growing up. He went out of his way to show Kyle his sports memorabilia, share information, and answer questions about the many players. He didn't have to do that, but he did it graciously. His thoughtfulness will never be forgotten.
Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. May your memories as well as how he is thought of by many bring you comfort.
Sincerely,
Bob and Jane McCormick, Somers Point, N.J.

What a swell guy was he. Always positive, even in his infirmity. I loved talking to Russ and playing many years with him on F & M softball team. My condolences to his wife and family and praying that the good Lord will heal all of their hearts. Rest in peace my friend, you fought a good fight and now you may rest in the arms of our creator.

So sad to hear, my condolences to the entire Chappius family. Russ was one of the nicest guy's I ever met. I used to love seeing him come into the store with such enthusiasm. Every time I see a Richie Ashburn card, I'll think of Russ. He will be missed by everyone who came in contact with him.
