Sonya Kay Taylor Greenwood, 41, of East Windsor passed away suddenly and peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012.
Sonya was born in Bridgeton on Oct. 16, 1970, and graduated from Oakcrest High School in 1989. She received her RN degree from Cumberland County College and her BSN from Rowan University. Additionally, she was certified as an oncology research clinician. At the time of her death, she was employed as a research nurse at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Sonya took great pride in her work as a nurse, always demonstrating exceptional care and compassion. She enjoyed traveling to England, where her husband was born, and had special memories of her trip to Paris with her uncles, as well as her special mother-daughter cruise to the Caribbean with Sunny. Her family always came first, and she loved them very much.
She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Anthony Greenwood; her children, Jay Nipe Jr., Sunny Nipe and Sean Greenwood; her mother and stepfather, Karen and Brian Ferus; her paternal grandfather, Paul Taylor Sr. (Irma); a brother, Paul (Brenda); two sisters, Janet Small and Kerri Tindall (Roger); her uncle and best friend, Warren D. Brandriff Jr.; and her adoptive uncle, Dr. Keith Figgs. She is also survived by her aunt, Karen Heckman (Rev. Douglas); as well as additional aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Sonya was predeceased by her father, Paul "Sonny" Taylor Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Ida Brandriff and Warren Brandriff Sr.; her paternal grandmother, Martha Taylor; and her uncle, Lewis E. Brandriff. A very special member of her family is her beloved dog, Jake. Sonya will be missed by all, who will always cherish the memories of her and her giving and caring heart.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at noon at the First Wesleyan Church, 200 Laurel Heights Drive, Bridgeton. A viewing will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until noon. Sonya will be laid to rest next to her beloved grandmother, Ida Brandriff, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Millville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Sonya Greenwood, payable to "The Cancer Institute of NJ Foundation." Donations should be sent to: Leanne M. Arrangements are under the direction of the Padgett Funeral Home, Upper Deerfield Township.

Sonya was loving,caring person with alot to give and that she did . It showed in skills as a nurse and also with family. I have enjoy are talks together & the laugher that came after .I will miss her , she will always have a special spot in heart . I wil always remember memoriers. MY DEEPEST SYMPTHY TO ALL

Sonya, there are so many memories that I have of you. You were always my cousin but sometime after you babysat my sister you became my friend and someone that i looked up too! I spent so many weekends at your house and always had a great time with you. I will always remember all the time I spent with you! I will always remember your laugh! Aunt Sonya was such caring and loving person, she touched so many lives and will never be forgotten I have so many great memories that I will cherish forever.
