William R. Caine, 62, of Millville died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 19, 2010, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia after a lengthy illness.
Born in Bridgeton, Bill was a graduate of Bridgeton High School in 1964. He lived in Millville and prior to that had been a resident of Bridgeton.
He worked for several years for the West Co. of Millville and for 10 years at Shieldalloy in Newfield. Most recently, he worked at the Vineland Developmental Center for seven years before declining health forced his retirement.
A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era, Mr. Caine served in Thailand and was honorably discharged as a sergeant.
Bill was a member of the Harley Owners Group in Millville, and also was a NASCAR fan. In addition, he enjoyed fishing and taking care of his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Carol S. (Weatherby) Caine; two daughters, Stacey L. Caine of Cape May Court House and Amy Caine DeMore and her husband Robert of Cedarville; two grandchildren, Robert DeMore Jr. and Jillian DeMore; one sister, Barbara Hedman (Richard) of Upper Deerfield Twp.; one brother, David Caine (Jane) of Ocean City; his precious dog, Peaches; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Eugenie "Jennie" Maurer Caine; an infant grandson, Brandon DeMore; and a sister, Marie Caine.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, where friends will be received from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Pastor Edgar Wiker of Christ Lutheran Church will officiate.
The burial will take place privately Saturday with military honors at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Township.
