Betty E. Blanchard

1929 - 2025

Betty E. Blanchard, age 96, of Crystal, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Laurels of Carson City. She was born on October 18, 1929, in Crystal, the daughter of Frank and Pearl (Race) Hoover. She married Donald Blanchard on June 29, 1950, a blessed union of 69 years until his passing in 2020. Betty worked as a teacher for 31 years in the Crystal and Fulton area schools.
Betty enjoyed playing games, especially bingo and marbles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, friends and beloved grandchildren. She was a social butterfly and loved to tell stories.
Betty is survived by her daughter Sharon Cusack; her son Steven Blanchard; grandchildren Rashelle and Eric, Allie and Brian; great-grandchildren Kayley, Breck, Jordan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald; son-in-law Charles Cusack; her parents Frank and Pearl; and siblings LC Hoover, Genevieve Raab and Pauline Raab.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11 am at the Crystal Church of the Brethren. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 3-7 pm at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Crystal. Interment will be held at a later date in Crystal Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Crystal Church of the Brethren or the Crystal Fireworks Fund.
