Leon Clyde Ruthruff age 92, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024 surrounded in love by his family. He was born in Winn, MI on October 6, 1931, the son of Perry J. and Delia A. (Willmarth) Ruthruff. He was a cherished father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
Leon proudly served his county in the US Army. He retired from Federal Mogul after 41 years, and was able to enjoy over 30 years of retirement. He was a Trustee, Elder and teacher at Langston Bible Church. He was an active member of Gleaners, avid euchre player, fisherman, and hunter who loved the Detroit Tigers. He was also a hobby farmer, committed husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of his time, honoring God, family, and country.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris Ruthruff (Married. 1974; Died. 2000), wife, Arlene Ruthruff (Married. 2001; Died. 2024); grandson, Danny Phillips (Died. 1996); step son, Dr. Brian (Marcie) Helmer (Died. 2003); and eight siblings. He is survived by his children, Jean Ruthruff, Tim (Sue) Ruthruff, Dr. Chris (Teri) Ruthruff, Lori Ruthruff; stepchildren, Debbie (Dave) Clifford, Carol (Jamie) Sorsen, Kathy (John) VanderMyde, Kim Arnold, Kevin (Mici) Arnold, Bill (Cindy) Helmer, Julie Helmer; many grandchildren; step grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Leon will take place at Hurst Funeral Home on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 12:00 pm. Pastor Bob Goodenough will serve as officiant. Visitation will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service. Graveside services at Riverside Langston Cemetery will immediately follow the service. Leon's family invites guests to join them for a luncheon and time of fellowship at the Pine Township Hall following committal services.
