Phyllis Higgins Obituary

Phyllis Joan Higgins, age 87, formerly of Sidney, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024 in Edmore. She was born November 19, 1936 in Langston, the daughter of Norman and Leila (Dennis) Bowers. On May 24, 1958, she married Richard "Dick" Higgins at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Greenville. In her younger years, Phyllis enjoyed doing ceramics and collecting antiques. She had a love for animals and enjoyed gardening and canning. She worked for many years in banking. Dick preceded Phyllis in death on June 22, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd Bowers; sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and William Linebaugh and Barbara and Melvin Wittkopp. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Carl Stephens; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service. Rev. Alex Sabol of Hope Lutheran Church will serve as officiant. Interment will be in East Montcalm Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Hope Lutheran Church or Cannonsville Critters, and memories and messages of condolence may be shared at www.hurstfh.com.
