Shirley Downer Obituary

Shirley A. Downer, age 88, passed away in the early hours of February 4, 2025. She was born in Onondaga Twp., Michigan on January 9, 1937, to George Linebaugh and Cecelia McLean. She is survived by her sister, Wanda Paulsen; her sisters-in-law, Karine and Karen Linebaugh; her children, Jack Jr. (Jan) Clayton, Teresa Clayton, Sabrina (Rob) Medlar, and Mike Clayton; as well as her grandchildren, Chris and Jenna Larsen, Else Gooding, Kevin (Charlie) Olsen and Samantha Romano. She was also blessed with great grandchildren who will carry on her legacy, as well as many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Celia Mae Aldrich, Bill, Dick, Don, Chuck, Dwain, Delbert and Leo Linebaugh. For over 20 years Shirley was a military wife, traveling all over the U.S. Professionally, Shirley was a dietician for 15 years until her retirement. Shirley's hobbies included dancing, playing cards, working in her flowerbeds and feeding/watching the birds. She was a social butterfly and just loved to visit with others and have her coffee.
Per Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place. She will not have a funeral but wished to have a celebration of life with a luncheon with friends and family at the Spencer Mills Church. Her celebration of life will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 2 to 5pm. Shirley also asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the B foundation honoring her family members who have passed. Memories and messages of condolence may be shared at www.hurstfh.com.
