Daniel Merriman Obituary

Daniel Lee Merriman Daniel Lee Merriman passed away Thursday morning, October 12, 2023, at the Blount Memorial Hospital, following years-long courageous battles with heart and cardiovascular issues. Born in Knoxville on April 3, 1950, Dan was educated in the public schools of Maryville and then graduated from the University of Tennessee with BS and JD degrees. Following that, he attended the Emory University School of Law, where he received an LLM in Tax Law.

During his career, Dan resided in Atlanta and Orlando. He was known for his intensive research and his ability to penetrate complex cases, attributes which led to successes for his clients.

Following his retirement, Dan returned to his hometown of Maryville. His voracious reading provided him with a deep knowledge of history, baseball, politics, religion, and many other subjects which he relished discussing with friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Merriman and his mother, Evelyn B. Merriman. He is survived by his brother, Bob Merriman and his sister-in-law, Sandy Merriman, of Walland, TN, and by many cousins and other special friends.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 18 at the Clarks Grove Cemetery near Maryville. The Rev. Pam Neal, First Baptist Church of Knoxville, will officiate.

Over the years, Dan received high quality and compassionate care for his heart issues from the physicians at Blount Memorial. Undoubtedly, that extended his life by many enjoyable years. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Blount Memorial Foundation, 907 E Lamar Alexander Pkwy, Maryville TN 37804, would be sincerely appreciated.
