Dennis Leonard Cardin

Dennis L. Cardin, age 91, died peacefully at home Monday morning, October 6, 2025, in the presence of family.
Dennis was born August 26, 1934, in Madisonville, TN, to John and Sallie (Williams) Cardin. After serving in the US Navy during the Korean War and spending another 13 years living "up north," Dennis returned to his home state of Tennessee, moving to Blount County, where he resided since. Continuing his service to others, Dennis taught at William Blount High School, from which he retired. Followed by more years of service to the community as a Blount County Sheriff Deputy and a County Commissioner.
Throughout his life Dennis was an avid outdoorsman, with lifelong passions for hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and gardening. Dennis's strong, yet gentle loving spirit endeared him to all who knew him. He was well-loved and respected by students, colleagues, acquaintances, friends, and family.
Dennis was a member of Middlesettlements Methodist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge Unitia 295.
Preceded in death by: Wife: Effie Pauline (Hatcher) Cardin; Wife: Natalie T. (Piorkowski) Cardin; Sons: Wayne W. Cardin and Keith D. Cardin.
Survived by: Daughters: Dennise R. Cardin LaDuke and husband, Karl LaDuke, of Colorado, Natalie J. Cardin and wife, Marti Hubers, of Virginia and granddaughter, Riley Cardin-Hubers, of Maryland, Sally Jo Cardin Sullivan, his "favorite youngest child," and husband, Steve Sullivan, granddaughter, Natalie Ann Witty, and grandson, Connor Sullivan, of Friendsville. Sons: George Cardin of North Carolina, Walter Cardin and granddaughter, Victoria (Cardin) Childs, and four great-granddaughters of Mississippi. Sister, Vivian Hatcher, of Friendsville, brothers, Bill and John Cardin both of Maryville, and many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and devoted friends, Tim Peterson (Alcoa) and Danielle McManamy (Alcoa), both of whom were like family to him.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Magan Stubblefield officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
