Douglas H. Gross passed away January17, 2022, at Blount Memorial Hospital from multimyeloma, a blood cancer. He was born on March 8, 1943. During his childhood he lived in Cleveland OH, Baton Rouge and Cincinnati. He graduated in 1965 from Baldwin-Wallace College where he met his future wife Sally. At the University of Denver, he earned a JD and MA in international studies. He spent his working life as a corporate attorney for Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, Frito Lay in Dallas, a Pepsi bottling company in Longview TX and a software company in Dallas. He always looked forward to retirement and he and Sally moved to Blount County in 2003. His retirement dream was to have a vegetable garden and he did so share his produce with friends, neighbors, and the Community Food Connection. Doug was a devoted follower of UT football, basketball, and baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Jeanne Gross. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Sally Gross; his brother Warren Gross of Huntsville OH; his brother- and sister-in-law Dan and Elaine Sekerak of Granville OH; and his niece Emily and her husband Brett Furuness and great nieces Violet and Joan of Valparaiso IN. His request was to be cremated. A special thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff of BMH floors 1, 5N and 4N.
