Frank McReynolds Kidd Heaven welcomed home another good and faithful servant on Friday, October 11, 2024. Frank McReynolds Kidd, age 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Carpenters Campground surrounded by his family. Frank attended Carpenters School, Lanier High School, Maryville College, Hiwassee College, East Tennessee State University, and University of TN Knoxville, where he earned his Education Specialist Degree. Frank devoted his professional career to the students and teachers of Blount County. He spent 37 years working for Blount County Schools as a teacher, basketball coach, principal, and administrator and was inducted into the Blount County Educators Hall of Fame in 2019. Prior to his work in Blount County, he spent two years teaching high school in Saltville, VA. In addition to his contributions to Blount County's education system, he became a servant of the people through his position as a Justice of the Peace, former Gideon, and Blount County Commissioner. Frank also served his country in the US Army, which led him to White Sands, NM where he worked on the Hawk Missile. Frank was also known as a humble and spiritual leader. He shared his faith by teaching Sunday School through the years at Carpenters Campground United Methodist Church and Fairview United Methodist Church. He was a certified lay speaker with the Methodist Church and always added his creative flair for storytelling in sermons, like his sermon about cockroaches. Frank was most well-known for his humor, his love of family, his love of books, and his love to fish. He was quick to share a smile and was a friend to everyone. Ultimately, Frank's faith and exemplary character was always exemplified in the life he led. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Eric and Vera Kidd; his brothers, Dale and Cleve Kidd; and his son, Matthew Kidd. Frank leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Norma Potter Kidd; his daughter Amy (Mike) Kirkland of Maryville; and his pride and joy of an only granddaughter, Mackenzie Kirkland. Special thanks goes to UT Hospice for the amazing love and care they poured into Frank in his final months of life, most especially his extraordinary nurses - Kasie, Julia, and Jamie. The family will receive friends 12:00-2:00PM Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM, Rev. Gilbert Harris and Rev. Chris Boruff officiating. The interment will follow in Carpenters Campground Methodist Church Cemetery.
