James Albert Duckett

1928 - 2022

James Albert Duckett, 93, of Alcoa, Tn., went to be with his Savior on Sunday, January 9, 2022. He was born November 4, 1928, in Monroe Co. Tn., growing up in Vonore. He graduated from Vonore High School & Hiwassee College where he enjoyed playing on the baseball team. Having joined the US Army, he served in Korea & always loved being a Veteran & a patriotic American. He loved being outdoors whether it be fishing, golfing, gardening, beekeeping or hiking in the mountains. Also, being a great handyman, he enjoyed working on & building things. He worked for ALCOA, Piedmont Airlines & ended his career with retirement from US Air. He was an active member of Niles Ferry Baptist Church and especially loved running the sound board along with other various positions in the church. Mr. Duckett was a previous member of both Mary Blount & Martha Washington OES as well as a 50+ years member of Unitia Masonic Lodge. Whenever time allowed, he also enjoyed playing his guitar with family & friends. He truly lived & enjoyed all aspects of a full life all centered around his strong Christian faith. He is preceded in death by his lovely wife of 63 years, Mary Doris Cannon Duckett; father, John Theodore Duckett; mother, Florence Bertha Wiseman. He is survived by daughter, Jan Dixon (& Glen); son, Jeff Duckett (& Kim); grandchildren, Chris Dixon (& Kristen) with great grandchildren Ethne & Emmie Dixon, Jonathan Duckett (& Bethany) with great grandchildren Kinsley & Kambree Duckett, Jared Duckett (& Melissa) with great grandson Liam Duckett & Jama Madore (& Billy) with great granddaughter Merritt Madore. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins & a sister-in-law. Those who wish to pay their respects may come by McCammon Ammons Click Funeral Home at 220 W. Broadway in Maryville, Tn. on Friday Jan. 21, 2022, between the hours of 9a to 3p. The funeral will be a private service for family.
