Marta Ann Wiglesworth Marta Ann (Hess) Wiglesworth, born on January 7, 1945, in Baltimore, MD, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, in Knoxville, TN, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished daughter of Carl Hess and Mary Virginia Hearn and is preceded in death by her brother, William (Bill) Hess. Marta's journey through life was marked by her unwavering compassion and dedication to others. After earning her Associate's Degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse around 1984, she devoted 33 years to nursing, making a profound impact in diverse settings, including mental health, Alzheimer's care, drug rehabilitation, and various correctional facilities. Her kindness and expertise touched the lives of many, reflecting her commitment to helping those in need. In 1985, Marta married Michael W. Wiglesworth, in West Palm Beach, Florida. They moved to Tennessee in 1997. Marta's greatest joy came from her family, including her daughters Cathryn Moore (husband Kevin Moore) and Gina Adams (husband Jim Adams), her five grandchildren-Madison (26) and Joseph (15) Moore, Carlee (Adams) Morrongiello (29), Bailey (23) and Jordan (21) Adams-and her precious great-grandson, Leo Morrongiello (3). Her legacy of love will forever be remembered by those she cherished. Marta had a deep fondness for animals and an innate ability to care for everyone around her. Her life was a testament to giving and sharing, always extending a hand to help others. Marta will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined, honoring her life of service and commitment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Covenant Hospice Knoxville in her name. Her spirit will continue to shine through the lives she touched and the love she shared. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
