Mr. Piela was my Assistant Principal. He was a one of a kind administrator: equal parts caring and no nonsense. He showed the kids respect and earned respect in return. He was the kind of Administrator that you want to contact later in life and share your successes with. Mr. Piela: Thank you for believing in me! Your efforts were not in vain. But you know that. "Auntie Mary Jane": I'm sorry for your loss and your family's loss.

To Mary Jane and the Piela Family:
My sympathies on the loss of Al. A great friend and colleague at Fitch, we had many a great time together over the years. From his being my administrative assistant coach on the soccer field to our many, many sojourns to Chestnut Hill to watch the Eagles soar we always had an excellent time! Keep his memories close as he lived a long and fruitful life dedicated to his family and students at FHS! Rest in peace, my brother!

Mr. Piles (No way I can refer to him by his first name) was the assistant principal at Fitch Senior High when I was a student. He was a good man and treated me and my fellow students very well. My favorite memory of him was when he grew his beard. He will be missed.

Al and my husband Jack were classmates in Willimantic Teachers College in the 60´s. They commuted together daily from Norwich becoming close friends. Al was best man for my husband for our wedding so many years ago. After graduation we lost track of each other. He was a good man. I´m sorry to read of your loss.
