Albert was a graduate of the Bulkeley School in New London, and Bryant College in Smithfield, R.I. He pursued a career in banking and worked for Hartford National Bank as branch manager at multiple sites.
Throughout his business career, Albert was known for his distinguished leadership skills and charismatic presence in both his public and private life. His deep sense of spirituality touched the lives of many people throughout the years
Albert's family was the focal point in his life. He and the late Thelma Beebe Santangelo were married on Oct. 5, 1946 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in New London and had five children. Albert savored the simple pleasures in life. His love of family and deep faith in God permeated his life journey and made a profound difference to others.
Albert's survivors include three daughters, Cathy S. Santangelo of Pawcatuck, Elisa A. Santangelo of New London, and Gail S. Bialowans and her husband, Peter, of Waterford; his son and wife, Craig S. and Shelby Santangelo, of Frisco, Texas; a brother, John Santangelo of New Hampshire; sisters, Marie Nott, of Rhode Island and Virginia West, of New London; six grandchildren, Christine Borum, Jennifer Trapp and her husband, Adam, Joshua Bialowans, Eric, Colby and Nicholas Santangelo; and Albert's beloved dog, Mr. McDuff.
Albert had also been predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl S. Borum.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at the Saint Mary Star of the Sea Church, Huntington Street, New London. Burial followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London.
Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington Street, New London assisted the family with arrangements.

Colby and Eric,
I am truly sorry to hear about your grandfather's passing. Although we don't know why our loved ones leave us when they do, it has to happen anyway. It is good to know that he is in a better place without pain and back with your grandmother. I hope this message finds you both well and nearing a full recovery from your surgery. I will talk to you both soon. Stay Strong.
Love Always, Angie
