Alvin Whitford Obituary
He was born on June 25, 1913, the son of Urban and Phebe Whitford.
A lifelong craftsman, known as a workaholic, from the family sawmill to general contractor, he specialized in historical home restoration. Countless examples of his craftsmanship abound throughout southeastern Connecticut and Rhode Island.
He was predeceased by his wife of 78 years, Helen; as well as siblings, Clark, Marian, Wilmer, Gladys, Eleanor, Estella, and Ellery.
He is survived by son, Robert (Beverly) Whitford; daughter, Ellen (Robert) Williams; grandsons, Randall Whitford and Andrew (Roz) Whitford; adopted granddaughter, Mary Siegel; and great-granddaughters, Alexa and Kali.
Alvin's family will gather for a private service and burial. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Old Mystic United Methodist Church, PO Box 542, Old Mystic, CT 06372.
The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic, is assisting the family.
