Barbara Dart Obituary

New London - Barbara "Bunny" (Tsesmelis) Dart, entered eternal life Mar. 20, 2019, is a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

"Bunny" as we all know her, was a member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, was involved in the Greek Festival for numerous years baking for hours on end. She instilled her Greek traditions on her children and grandchildren. She also was a member of the St. Michael's Church in Florida where she was President of the Women's Philoptochos Society, a member of the Red Hats volunteering her time. She was, awarded the Gold Award, by the American Cancer Society for years of volunteering and raising money for cancer research. Bunny volunteered for many years at Monroe Hospital in Ocala, Fla. as a receptionist. Along with her late Husband Duncan, they volunteered every Tuesday to sponsor spaghetti and meatball dinners at the Ocala lodge of Elks with proceeds going to under privileged children. Bunny was always full of energy, remembering every-one's birthday, nameday, anniversary, etc.

She will be remembered, as calling everyone "Dollin". She is survived by her son, Dino Dart; daughters, Paula Dart, Kathy Wood (Doug), Thelma Hunter (Rick); her grandchildren, Tiffiney, Robert, Christopher, Scott, Nicholas, Corey, and Laura; her great-grandchildren, Maryah, Sophia, Ezekiel, Seth Duncan. She was predeceased by her husband, Duncan; son, Kenneth; brother, Tony Tsesmelis; sisters, Mary Ganacoplos and Victoria Mitchell.

Wear a touch of her favorite color "Yellow". Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday Mar. 23, at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 200 Hempstead St. New London.

Interment services are private. Donations in her memory may be made to, St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church.

My daughters and I still use Thiea Bunny´s Greek cookie recipe and think of her laugher and sense of fun!
Every birthday and anniversary she sent cards to her relatives. She visited us in every state we lived in and told stories of her early life in the Greek community in New London. We cherish her memory and the many heartwarming stories.

Barbara (Bunny) was such a special lady and comforted my own mother so much by her kind heart and caring ways during their last year or so together as friends at Beechwood in New London. That friendship touched my heart too. Many blessings. And to you Paula & Thelma

Bunny provided light and smiles every day while she and Margot often spent a part of their day together at Beechwood & many meals! Margot often received special homemade treats thanks to Paula & Thelma and Margot shared treats too like fresh shrimp cocktail, fresh strawberries & cherries. And what a lovely thing to attend the Greek Festival at St. Sophia church this past November. Margot LOVED it all, but particularly the Greek pastries Bunny was, of course, involved with making! Sending love to all who loved Bunny, and to Paula & Thelma particularly.

Dino, Paula, Kathy, Thelma and Family,

I am sorry that I cannot be at the service. Your mother and family has always provided fond memories for the Synodi families.

Her laugh and love of life is a great memory for all of us. I hope as time passes, your grief will be replaced by all the memories of great times.

And if I'm not mistaken, I think yous mom swam half-way out to Race Rock to save one of our floats at Ocean Beach (back in the day).

They don't make em like her anymore.

In Sympathy,
George Synodi

Thea Bunny was well traveled and always related wonderful stories of her adventures. She was an avid swimmer all her life. One favorite story was when she had the opportunity to dive from a boat into the Panama Canal
and have a bit of a swim. She had such a zest for life!
She was always present at family weddings and christenings... even when she was in her eighties. She loved dancing to Greek music.
We will surely miss you ,Thea Bunny, but have so many amazing memories of our times together.
We love you now, forever and beyond,
Yevonne, Michael & Jane Ganacoplos

Our Heavenly Father has given us a life span of 70-80 years if we are especially strong. May you celebrate a life well lived and loved by many. May the words of Psalm 90:10,14 bring comfort to the family.
