Bradley Ferraro Obituary

Stonington - Bradley "Chief" J. Ferraro, 57, of Stonington, husband of 26 years to Susan (Sykes) Ferraro, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 21, 2013.

Born in Westerly, he was the son of Thomasine Joan (Rattigan) Ferraro of Mystic and the late James "Jim" L. Ferraro and lived in Stonington all of his life.

Brad was a mason and general contractor owning and operating Ferraro Masonry for 37 years. He took great pride in his work which was evident through his amazing work ethic and craftsmanship.

He enjoyed his early morning bicycle rides, vacationing with his family, but most of all, loved spending time with his daughter each and every morning having coffee together and reading the newspaper down at the Mystic River. Brad was an avid New England Patriots football fan. Brad embraced each day with a smile, and his wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and co-workers. He was a very caring, thoughtful, and generous individual who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves his two children, Paul Blanco and his wife, Amy, of Wethersfield, and Jennifer Ferraro of Stonington; sister, Shelley Rohus and her husband, Michael, of Willspoint, Texas; three grandchildren, Annabella, Sofia, and Paul Blanco; his in-laws, Richard and Elizabeth Sykes of Old Saybrook; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Miller and her husband, George, of Killingworth and Deborah Dupre and her husband, Ted, of Westbrook; brother-in-law, Steven Sykes and his wife, Eileen, of Snohomish, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, at Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, 51 Williams Ave., Mystic. A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Mystic Congregational Church, 43 East Main St., Mystic. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

We hold on dearly to all our special memories of Brad. We had such fun times and have missed him so much. You never forget a special person in your life and you grasp and hold on to all the wonderful memories you have to bring a smile to your face, in spite of how sadly you feel about his passing. Wally and I often think of a song Brad loved or something funny that always seemed to happen when we were with him. He loved everyone and treated everyone admirably. We know you're in heaven Brad making all the other angels laugh every day.

Dear Sue, Jenny, Paul, & Joan and family,
Losing a loved one so suddenly is incomprehensible and shocking. Losing someone so young and vibrant is beyond tragic. I am so sorry for your loss. Brad was always a caring and wonderful friend to our family ever since he was a youngster! Of course, there's his ear-to-ear smile that we'll remember forever, but he never uttered an unkind word about anyone. I have pictures of him and Jimmy helping Cliff build our house - they both just pitched just because that's the way they were! Brad often stopped by the Boat Livery for a cup of coffee on his way to work on Masons Island just to say hello! My deepest sympathy and prayers.

Brad was a friend to so many people. When we were with him, Sue and Jen we were always smiling and having a wonderful time. He just made that happen naturally!
He was one of the most giving-of-himself people we have ever known. Everyone who knew Brad knows what a wonderful husband, father and friend he was. Words cannot express how greatly saddened we are by his passing. We extend the utmost of sympathy to all his family.
