When I got divorced and didn´t have a place to stay, Bruce said I could stay with his brother John until I found a place. I´ll always remember that treasure as a good friend.

I remember Bruce as a serious, giving man but mostly a funny lighthearted person, often even silly. I can now smile when I think of him. I love you Gail and Cara and hope your thoughts are of those funny and silly times.

Bruce was the kind of man who you always knew would be around with an easy smile and a kind word. Hard to believe he won't. I'm so sorry for your loss.

To the MacDonald family,
I was so sorry to hear of Bruce´s passing. I never knew him and -I knew of him -all through the years!!! I always thought he was a great guy... someone that I would definitely like to meet!
And his obituary proved me right. What a gentleman! And what a loss!
May the love of your family and friends hold each of you up during this sad time! And may his Life Celebration be grand!
I hope this passage brings you a measure of comfort... it´s an old Eskimo proverb that reads...
" Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."
God bless you all!

To the Macdonald Family,
I'm saddened to read about Bruce's passing and want to extend my sympathies. He was a real gentleman and a kind human being.
I had the pleasure to be involved in a few projects with Bruce when he was at The Day and he always treated me fairly and with substance. It was more common for reporters and police officers to collaborate as much as we did years ago and Bruce always set the bar high for clarity and honesty, something I always respected about his character. I learned a lot from him and several others that I was privileged work with during those times. I'm grateful that our paths crossed during our career journey's.
May your fond memories of times past bring you some peace during this difficult time. Good-bye Bruce, my friend. Thank you.

Dear Gail and Cara,
So sorry for your loss. Bruce was just one fine human being and friend, whose life was so well put together in a touching obituary. Optimism, intelligence, sense of humor, giving, caring, dedication, making a difference in the lives of others...all superimposed on his kindness and being a good listener. Bruce impacted so many. I am sure he will be missed. I hope to join you for the celebration of life gathering on June 29.

That was a mighty fine obit, one that captured Bruce´s energy, talents, and compassion. I had the pleasure of working with Bruce at The Day, and also helped him with one of his business ventures, which involved cleaning and painting vacated apartments. Despite his failing health, he made it to the Day reunion last fall, and there´s a big smile on his face as he posed for our group portrait. We´ll all miss him.

Having worked tangentially with Bruce through tourism for many years, I know firsthand, the world has lost the daily bits of optimism, kindness and quirkiness he offered so genuinely. Thoughts to Gail and the daughter he loved so.

I got to know Bruce during his time working for the Mashantucket Pequots. He was always a pleasure to talk to. We would often compare notes about our respective stints at the Norwich Bulletin and The Day. He was a very kind man with a terrific sense of humor. I´m so sorry to hear of his passing. To his beloved family, please accept my sincere condolences.
