Bruce Stevens Obituary

New London - Bruce Livingston Stevens, 81, passed away July 1, 2024, in New London, where he was born Nov. 16, 1942. A stalwart of his community and a cherished figure in his family, Bruce leaves behind a legacy of dedication and love.

Bruce graduated from Fitch Senior High School where he was a member of the varsity cross country team and soon after served in the Army National Guard from 1962 to 1965, a period during which he demonstrated commendable commitment and discipline. His professional life was marked by a successful career at General Physics Taurio Corporation, where he rose to the position of Executive Vice President, contributing significantly to the company's development and success.

Beyond his professional and military service, Bruce was a passionate fan of the New England Patriots, and he cherished the summer months when he could be found on his boat, fishing or enjoying camping trips. These hobbies were more than pastimes; they were the ways he connected with nature and with those he loved.

Bruce is survived by his sister, Sandra Stevens Meng (husband Bill); brother, John Rowley (wife Carrie); ex-wife Vicki Stevens Elliott; daughters, Traci Stevens Dalton (husband Chris) and Ashley Stevens Bigelow-Johnson (husband James); son, Scott Stevens; three stepchildren, seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Stevens Rowley and Bruce Livingston Stevens (deceased in World War II); stepfather Alan Rowley; sister, Deborah Rowley; brother, Alan Rowley; and granddaughter, Rochelle Bigelow.

A wake will be held at from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday July 11, at the Thomas Neilan and Sons Funeral Home in New London. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 149 Montauk Avenue, New London, followed immediately by a graveside service at St. Mary Cemetery, New London.
