Cameron Rogerson Obituary

Madison - Cameron John Rogerson passed away June 13, 2024, one month following his 64th birthday. He and his wife had the good fortune to go on vacation and celebrate his birthday in May before his battle with cancer returned to take his life.

Cameron was born May 13, 1960, in Torrington, to Patricia and Thomas Walker Rogerson. Cameron was the middle son of three boys, and raised in Old Lyme where the family moved when he was a toddler.

He was a natural at many sports including golf, tennis and skiing, and was also quite a skilled guitar player. Following college, Cameron joined the family business. He chartered many of its successes in cutting-edge fiberglass manufacturing techniques, and ultimately, successfully transitioned the business to a specialized plastics company serving the utility industry. Cameron holds two patents. He had a tremendous work ethic, a keen grasp of mechanics, and tremendously enjoyed discussing ideas with colleagues and partners.

Cameron had several business exploits outside of Connecticut, including South Dakota, and then New York City, where he met his bride-to-be Leah Johnson. Continuing a storied romance, they married in 2003, and settled down in Madison. Cameron loved hosting family and friends at their home, which became the hub for all treasured holidays. Cameron's wit, charm, warmth, intelligence and curiosity will be incredibly missed. To quote a dear childhood friend, Cameron was "one in a million."

He leaves behind his loving wife Leah Rogerson; brothers, David and Andrew Rogerson; mother Patricia Rogerson; sisters-in-law, Ann Rogerson, Meryl (Todd) Markham and Christa Johnson (partner Derek Geary); nieces, Katharine Rogerson and Mikaela Markham; nephews, Drew Rogerson and Rhys Markham; goddaughter Sheridan Neary; and a wide array of cherished friends from grade school, college and life in N.Y.C. and Madison.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, in Cameron's honor at Saint Ann's Episcopal Church, 82 Shore Road, Old Lyme. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Cameron's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I knew Cameron initially through business between AMI Power and the Utility Company I work for. It had been over a year since I had reached out, and when my text message today wasn´t answered, I feared the worst. I wish I had checked in sooner. We never did much business - as least not as much as he would have liked- but we spent a lot of time talking guitars and playing. He was a great guy and he will be missed by many. I know I will miss hearing from him, and I regret that I let so much time pass between the last time I checked in with him. I offer my condolences to his wife, Leah, and to his family.

My thoughts and prayers to the entire Rogerson family. My brother and I grew up with David, Cameron and Andrew directly across the street on Coult Lane and have many fond memories of the neighborhood.
