Carolyn Dyer Obituary

Stonington - Carolyn "Carol" Augusta Dyer, 92, peacefully went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025. She was an adored mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be truly missed.

Carolyn was born in Wakefield, R.I. Nov. 1, 1932, to Donald and Marion Downs. She was predeceased by her parents; her stepmother, Peg; stepmother, Madeliene; brother, Bob; and husband, Jim.

She was raised in Greenwood, R.I. and enjoyed Summers with her family in Maine. As a young cellist, she attended the New England Music Camp. She studied under the tutelage of Bedrich Vaska in Providence. In later years enjoyed playing with the "Belly Band" in Madison. She studied in Boston to become a general assistant. She enjoyed working for Dr. Cardi in Cranston, R.I. and later years for Home Health in Madison.

Carolyn loved being a mom. She raised her children Don (Sandy), Jean (Peter), Peggy (Roger), and Linda (Ken) in Madison. In later years, "Carol" enjoyed her sunny home in Englewood, Fla. with husband, Jim.

She was a lover of music, nature, and family. She had a well known "green thumb" and took great joy in her gardens. She loved being outdoors, traveling the world, being at the beach, and spending time with family and friends.

She took great delight in her grandchildren and all their life adventures. She will be greatly missed by Sean (Ana), Nicholas (Kelsey), Melissa (Patrick), Donny, Laura, Carly, Eric (Brianna), Julie; and her great-grand "babies" Charlotte, Linda, James, and Henry; along with her sister, Nancy (Gene); brother, Richard (Patti, dec/Eileen); sisters-in-law, Debbie, Patty (Dale), and Ridgie (Charlie, dec.); and numerous nieces, nephews, and greats.

The Family would like to thank the caring staff at Bayview Health Care & Masonicare Hospice.

A Celebration of Carolyn's life is being planned for this summer.
