Billy Joe Dyer

Billy Joe Dyer, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026, in Katy, Texas. He was born on September 20, 1934, in Madisonville, Texas, to Walter D. and Elma Dyer. Billy proudly served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve for eight years.

Billy is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Dyer, with whom he shared 58 wonderful years of marriage, his brother, Gerald Dyer, and his sister, Rosalie Williams.

A devoted family man, Billy loved boating and treasured life's simple pleasures. As the patriarch of the family, Billy was never happier than when surrounded by the many generations of grandchildren who adored him. He also loved watching the television series MASH*, spent countless hours enjoying John Wayne movies, and had a special fondness for classic black-and-white westerns.

Billy is survived by his three children: Sherry Cannon and her husband Mark, Richard Dyer and his wife Tricia, and Larry Dyer and his wife Belinda. He also leaves behind three granddaughters, Michelle Waltmon and her husband Kelly, Cristina Cannon, and Amber Dyer; four grandsons, Craig Bernal and his wife Bianca, Michael Dyer and his wife Crystal, Stephen Dyer and his wife April, and Zechariah Dyer and his wife Victoria; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cancer Society and Lupus Foundation.
