Dane Sebastian Obituary
Dane was born in New London, on June 3, 1953, the son of Benjamin H. and Theresa Sebastian.
He was married to his lifelong friend, Roberta Pender, who passed away in 1994.
A lifelong resident of New London, Dane graduated from New London High School in 1972 and attended college on a full scholarship for football until he sustained a knee injury. He was inducted into the New London High School Football Hall of Fame in 1987. He also had been a drummer for the Surfers Drum and Bugle Corps. He loved to cook and play the piano and was loved by everyone.
Dane was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1975, and became a firefighter for the City of New London until his retirement.
He leaves to mourn two brothers, Benjamin Sebastian and wife, Betty, of New London and William Sebastian and wife, Annmarie, of Groton; a sister, Dana Davis and husband, Jerome, of Cleveland, Ohio; his daughter, Nikki Pender Dulin and her husband, Tim, and their daughter, Sydney Dulin, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; his nieces and nephews, Brian Sebastian of California, Yvonne Sebastian of Geogia, Craig Sebastian of West Haven, and Leon Jr. and Shauntae Robinson, both of Cleveland; and a step grandson, Collin Dulin of Myrtle Beach.
Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Yvonne Sebastian.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. James Episcopal Church, 76 Federal St., New London. Private interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London. Visiting hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St.

God took him to his loving home.
God saw him getting tired, a cure was not to be. He wrapped him in his loving arms and whispered "come with me". He suffered much in silence his spirit did not bend. He faces his pain with courage, until the very end. He tried so hard to stay with us, but his fight was not in vain. God took him to his loving home and freed him from the pain.

Dane was one of my very first drum instructors when I was about 14 and he was about 20. What a great, friendly young man. He was a role model to me and all the members of our drum line. He instilled in me a great worth ethic and the love of drumming. I still love to drum to this day. I'm now 55 years old. I just wish I had kept in touch with him. I hope his family will take comfort knowing what a great man he was even long, long ago.

I first met Dane when I joined the Surfers, he was a part of my drum corp family! He then became another part of my family when he joined my Aunt Roberta and Nikki Pender's family. He has always had a presence in New London as a drum corps member, a family man, a fireman and as a driver for the Postal service bringing our mail to the post offices. Always had a smile on his face and would do anything for you. I wish him well in Heaven! You are missed!

To the Sebastian I have know Dane for many years living in N.L, always quieted and friendly. I knew him for many years working for City Emergencies Divisions highly dedicated and passions to work. I could go on and on what a outstanding person he was, will be solely miss, the Mayo's send the families our pray and support for healing at a time like this. Until we meet again my friend RIP.

Rest in peace my dear step brother. I have known you since I was a young child and you were "adopted" into our family.
