David Francis Foltz

Ledyard - David Francis Foltz, 84, of Ledyard, passed away peacefully Nov. 10, 2025.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary (Holdridge) Foltz, his childhood sweetheart and lifelong companion. David also leaves behind his children, Sandra Fedors (Terence), Stephen Foltz (Brenda) and Lisa Ann Curtis; his grandchildren: Jacob Fedors (Victoria), Erin Geer (Jacob), Allison Fedors, Ethan Foltz, Carly Curtis and Ty Curtis; and great-grandchildren, Shea and Henry Geer. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Kevin Curtis; and grandchildren, Jenna and Garrett Foltz.

Born Dec. 5, 1940, and raised in Ledyard, David was proud to be the town's first Eagle Scout. He went on to graduate from Lehigh University and spent his professional career as an engineer at Electric Boat, retiring in 1996.

An avid outdoorsman, David found joy in camping, hiking, biking, canoeing and kayaking. He climbed all of New England's 4,000-foot peaks, as well as Mount Rainier. In retirement, he and Mary spent many happy winters in Fort Myers Beach, Fla., where they enjoyed the shoreline, the sunsets, and on his own - exploring the Everglades. Summers in Connecticut were devoted to family and friends - especially time with grandchildren by the pool. With a gentle yet industrious spirit, David could often be found caring for the woods, building something new, or working around the house.

David will be remembered for his quiet strength, craftsmanship, love of nature and steadfast devotion to his family.

Services will be held at a later date.
