David Fulton Obituary

Groton - David Chester Fulton, 67, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, with his family by his side.

Dave was born Feb. 2, 1954, in New London, the son of Chester and Angelina (Apicelli) Fulton. He was a graduate from St. Bernard School, class of 1973. He was employed for many years retiring as a Maintenance Foreman for the town of Groton Public works department. He married Theresa Oct. 5, 1996, in Groton.

As a licensed plumber and general contractor, he was a jack of all trades, always hard at work, even in retirement. He loved the outdoors; boating, gardening, crabbing, fishing. He loved taking trips to Cape Cod and being near the ocean. He really enjoyed life.

Dave is survived by his loving wife Terry; daughter Heather (Brad) Tefft; grandson Austin; nephew Nick (Ashley) Fulton. He is predeceased by his parents; brother Joseph Fulton; and uncle Harry Apicelli.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, in Sacred Heart Church, 56 Sacred Heart Drive, Groton. Please visit www.fultontherouxnewlondon.com for directions and service information.

I just learned of Dave's passing a few days ago. I am so sorry to hear that he has left us. I knew Dave for many years when I worked at the Groton Town Police Department and from the Groton Italian Club. Dave could always make you smile and laugh. I had many good times with him at work. My Deepest sympathy to his entire family. Dave RIP. Save a spot for me up there.

Dave was my best friend growing up. I lived just two houses away from his, and we shared a great childhood together in Groton. I have so many memories of the things we did together, the adventures we shared. Sadly, after having lost contact for decades, I had been thinking of him lately, and wondering if we might reconnect to share a few memories of our past together. But, obviously, I was too late, a regret I'll carry for the rest of my life. We were more than friends, as his wonderful family took me in as one of their own. I'm pretty sure I had more dinners at the Fulton home than I did at my own, and because of that closeness, Dave and I shared a special bond. I offer my sincere condolences to his family, and may my special friend rest in peace. I'll always hope we meet again.
