David Pelchat Obituary

Montville - David Pelchat, 59, of Uncasville passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015.

David was born on May 28, 1956, in West Warwick, R.I., to Robert and Rose Pelchat. In 1962 they moved to Oakdale Heights, where David grew up with his sisters Patty, Linda and Lisa. He attended Montville High School and in 1974 he began working for Electric Boat as a welder. David was a talented individual and had his own company, PT Builders, for many years. He later returned to the local 777, where he spent the duration of his career.

In 1978 he married the love of his life, Deborah (Bergman) Pelchat. Dave and Deb made their home in Uncasville, where they raised their two boys, Jason Pelchat and Joseph Pelchat. In 1995, they moved into their dream home, built by David himself. David shared his crazy antics, an insatiable sense of humor and his love of motorcycles, dogs and the great outdoors with his boys. David taught the boys tough love and instilled in them hard work and family values. Today, those values continue on with his two beloved grandsons, Jacob and Landon Pelchat, who know David best as their Vovo. David was completely smitten by his two grandsons, and he and Jacob were the best of buddies. He will be sorely missed by his pal. David was a loving and dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his father, sisters, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He leaves behind his loving wife, Debbie Pelchat; son and daughter in-law, Joseph and Rachel Pelchat and their two sons, Jacob and Landon; his son, Jason Pelchat and Jason's girlfriend, Eileen Green; and his two loyal dogs, Toby and Zoey.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at the Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen, Route 32, Uncasville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Connecticut Humane Society in Waterford, in Dave's name.

To The Pelchat Family,

I'm stunned and saddened to learn of Dave's passing. I just saw a post on Facebook and I want to say I'm so very sorry for your loss. Dave and I had just recently reconnected through Facebook, we grew up together in The Heights. There are no words to express my sorrow and you will all be in my thoughts and prayers. I wish we'd been able to catch up more with each other. May your fond memories of times past bring you some measure of comfort during this difficult time.

The last time I saw Dave was at Jason and Eileen's 4th of July party last year. I really had the greatest time and loved talking to Dave about just getting that Jeep. He took mine for a ride and came back wanting one more than ever. Dave was definitely one of the easiest people to talk to and would have givn the shirt off his back for anyone. Deb, Jason, Joe, and the rest of the family I am so deeply sorry for your loss. My continued thoughts and prayers are with you all.
