David Silva Obituary

New London - David Paul Silva, 70, of New London, passed away Dec. 6, 2023. He was born Oct. 2, 1953, in New London, to the late Virginia Card and Anthony Silva.

David was a dedicated electrician who spent many years working at Electric Boat before retiring. He then continued his career as an electrician at Connecticut College, where he eventually retired in 2016. Throughout his career, David displayed exceptional skill and a strong work ethic.

Outside of work, David had a passion for various hobbies. He was actively involved in the community as a Little League baseball coach, nurturing young talents and fostering a love for the sport. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing, finding joy in friendly competitions with friends and family. David cherished his time fishing with his beloved grandchildren and shared many memorable moments with them. Additionally, he found solace and camaraderie in playing cards with loved ones.

David will be deeply missed by his children, Jonathan and wife Kathryn and Jason and wife Kristina; and their mother, Mary Ellen Christina. He is also survived by his wife Janice; and his cherished grandchildren: Calissa, Justin, Damian, Ava, Julien, Kayla, Colin and Milli. David's memory will be cherished by his uncle, Charlie Card; and his cousins, Barry, Crystal and Diane.

A private memorial service will be held to honor David's life and allow his loved ones to come together in remembrance. The details of the service will remain private to respect the family's wishes. In this time of grief, we extend our deepest sympathies to David's family and friends. May the memories of his kind heart, strong spirit and genuine love for those around him bring solace during this difficult time.

To all of David's family and friends; My thoughts and prayers are with all of us ,I am known as David's little cousin when we were kids hanging out and we were brought up like brothers, we had a lot of fun playing sports together and also some partying along the way, we both loved listening to rock and rock music in the late 60s and early 70s, going to to the Clint Eastwood movies on Christmas nights after family gatherings, we bowled together on the same team for year's at the holiday bowl in Groton on Thursday nights, lots of fun, David was in rare form 1 night and bowled a 99 and from there after he was known as agent 99 when all his teammates pick on him. We both are lucky to have the family and friends we had and have, I will always think of you and love you for the time and times we had.
