David VanDyne Obituary

New London - David E. VanDyne, 67, of New London, entered eternal life Nov. 4, 2019. He was born Jan. 17, 1952, in New London, the son of the late Albert William and Ruth (Diaz) VanDyne Sr.

David was raised in Groton, and attended local elementary school and junior high school. He graduated from St. Bernard High School in Uncasville with the class of 1970. He was employed at the following businesses over the years: Youth Colony and Tommy's Florist both in Groton; and Frank's Place, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and A. C. Moore Arts & Crafts all in New London.

David really enjoyed bowling, cake decorating, floral arranging and helping his friends with whatever they needed. He also loved to travel.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Albert William ""Billy"" VanDyne Jr. He is survived by his longtime friends of many years, Robert ""Bob"" Briggs and John J. Duval, both of New London. He also is survived by his sister-in-law Susie Frankopoulos-VanDyne of Groton; his nephews, Chris and Danny VanDyne of Groton; great-niece Marrisa VanDyne; and great-nephew Vincent VanDyne, all of Groton. Lastly, he is survived by a very special friend for over 35 years, Maggie Searles of Quaker Hill.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. A funeral home service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday followed by interment in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery, Groton.
