David Wood Obituary
David was born in Groton, the son of Michael E. Wood and Sandi Wood.
He grew up in Ledyard and was a graduate of Ledyard High School. He was currently a student at the University of Connecticut. David worked for Project Genesis, Inc. in Willimantic and also with Community Enterprises in Gales Ferry.
David leaves behind his father, Michael Wood; stepmother, Lorraine Desjardins; stepsister, Jocelyne Braffith; uncles, Tom and John Desjardins; and grandmother, Ellen Desjardins, all of Uncasville. He is also leaves his brother, Jeffrey Wood of Kansas; stepfather, Jeff Eilenberger of Ledyard; stepsisters, Faith Novaco, and Heidi Eilenberger; along with his stepbrother, Mark Eilenberger. In addition, he also leaves his paternal grandmother, Merle Wood of Gold Beach, Ore.; and his aunts, Sandy of Oregon and Susan Wood of Lake Tahoe, Calif.
David was predeceased by his mother, Sandi S. Eilenberger of Ledyard.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at the Calvary Chapel, Sharp Hill Road, Montville.
Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London, is in charge of the arrangements.
Donations in David's memory may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.

I don't know why I am writing this to you. But I miss you terribly . I think of you daily and wish there was something...... Easter came and went this year I was remembering last year spending it with you . Bruce remembers you too he asked when we were going to the beach with his cousin. I'm saddened by the reality of Dave's passing. He was a true inspiration as we all witnessed his courageous struggle through adversity. Dave's friendship and gentle concern nudged me through several difficult times in my own life; that is something I will always remember about Dave. We're very deeply sorry to hear of your tragic loss. I knew of Dave and Jeff when they were babies. Mike and I shared some time together before the boys were born. Dave, it seems like it was just yesterday when you started caring for Bill's dad as apart of Project Genesis. When I got the news that you were gone, I didn't believe it at first. I didn't want to believe it. I just that I had enough courage to tell you how much I cared for you. I've known you for two years, almost three and it just doesn't seem possible. I have cried so much these past few days that there has been times when I thought that I wasn't going to be able to stop. You were a very amazing, caring, and extraordinary man, Dave. I just wish that God gave you the time, the chance, and the life for you to realize that. You were too young to have been taken away from us, but I can't dwell on that. I will always remember the good times because those were the best. Especially with Genevieve and you telling me to bring her upstairs because she was wicked crazy. LOL. I am not going to say goodbye because that's not what death is. Death is just see ya later. And trust me when I say, Dave! You WILL see us eventually. Hopefully later and not soon. I just wish that I got the chance to tell how how much I loved you, Dave. And I know now that I don't have to. You already know and that brings just a little more comfort and it helps me deal with your not being here a little better. See ya later Dave. I LOVE YOU. :)

Dave Wood was such a wonderful man. I never thought I would be singing his orbituary's guest book right now, and I am so saddened by his loss. I really miss him and I wish he was here so he can see how much he is cared for. He was a wonderful, kind, and thoughful friend. I will never forget you Dave.

This is Dave's sister. I want to thank all of you for the things you have said and I know that they are all true. David and I have been very close since I was 4 years old. He was such a helpful and caring person. I have never met anyone else like him. He was so psecial to me and I have so many great and funny memories of him. David was loving, funny, smart, and he was a really good role model, brother and friend. I feel like he isnt really gone and for me he probably never will be. I met Dave at the UOA conference in Cleveland, Ohio. We had a lot of fun at that conference. Dave was an amazing, funny, smart, caring person. I am devastated that he is gone. I will never, ever forget him. I have a lot of great memories of Dave and will always remember him with a smile.
