Dawn was born in Norwich on Oct. 19, 1949, daughter of the late Francis Pisolowski and Shirley (Dugas) Welch, who survives her.
On Aug. 2, 1969, she was married to John J. Podziewski III in Norwich.
At the time of her death she was employed by The Salem School District as a math and reading tutor. Dawn loved working with her students for the past 25 years. She had a great love for travel, lighthouses, reading, photography, and the beach, as well as spending time with her family and friends who she loved so much.
In addition to her husband and mother, Dawn is survived by two sons, David Podziewski and his partner, William Barnes, and Jeffery and his wife, Dale, Podziewski; and her precious grandson, Ian Joseph Podziewski.
Family and friends will gather to remember Dawn on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich. Family and friends will gather again Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Labenski Funeral Home for a procession to Sacred Heart Church, 52 West Town St., Norwich for a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Dawn's life at 11:30 a.m. A private burial following cremation will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Dawn's memory be sent to the Salem School Library, c/o Jennifer Werb, 200 Hartford Road, Salem, CT 06420 so that her love of books and reading may be passed on to the children of Salem for many years to come.

Dawn was special to my daughter Caroline who is in the 1st grade at Salem School. Caroline needs assistance in the lunch room and Dawn became Caroline's helper. The special part is that Caroline thought all the while that she was Dawns helper. We talked to Caroline about Dawn being with the angels in heaven and Caroline is sure that she is reading them stories. She will be missed by all. Thank you for sharing her with us.

Dawn was always working for the best for Salem students and staff. We worked together on the compilation of the Salem School environmental survey. I looked forward to her smile and warm personality whenever we met. I know the Salem School Community has suffered a great loss.

I can only hope that God has taken Dawn to serve as a guardian angel to some child -- I worked with Dawn at Salem School and she had such a love for the children. She was what we strive to be -- a good person. My condolences to her family. I know she loved you all.
