Dominic D'Angelo

Pinehurst, NC – Dominic Anthony D'Angelo played his final round on October 9, 2018. He passed away at First Health Hospice in Pinehurst, N.C. He was 91. Better known as "Uncle Dom", Dom D'Angelo retired to Pinehurst from Stonington, CT, 23 years ago and loved every minute of his life in North Carolina.

Born in New London, he was the 4th of 8 children. Dom attended schools in New London and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his military service, he worked with his family in several family owned businesses including the Colchester Inn in Colchester, Jill's Diner, The Oh Boy Diner, Twin Bridge Diner, The Flagship Motel, and D'Angelo's Surf and Turf Restaurant in Groton.

Without a doubt, Dom's greatest love, except for his family, was Golf. At his best, he was a 9 handicap. Dom also scored 4 holes-in-one. One, on the famous Pinehurst No. 2 Course, two on other golf courses in Pinehurst, and one on a golf course in Arizona.

Dom was a kind, Christian and loving man. He was predeceased by his parents, Lucia Santacrose D'Angelo and Anthony D'Angelo, his siblings, Jill D'Angelo Caracausa, Elizabeth D'Angelo Smith, Pasquale D'Angelo, Thomas D'Angelo, Salvatore, D'Angelo, Philip D'Angelo and Tony D'Angelo.

Dom is survived by the love of his life, his devoted wife, Jan D'Angelo who he shared 44 wonderful years with, and his loving nieces and nephews. A private service will be held in Pinehurst.
