Donna Curio-Yuhas Obituary

Waterford - Donna Marie Curio-Yuhas, 58, of Quaker Hill passed in peace Monday, Aug. 29, 2016.

She was born Aug. 13, 1958, in Groton, to Victor and Theresa Winkler. Donna married Michael Wayne Curio July 22, 1987, and he predeceased her on Jan. 25, 1989.

After being together since 1990, Donna married George Yuhas on July 1, 2004. She was exceedingly empathetic and loving woman who spent her life putting the needs of others, especially her two daughters, before hers. Her candid sense of humor and her unique mastery of the English language endeared her to all.

Donna is survived by her mother, Theresa Winkler; her husband, George Yuhas; her daughters, Amber Curio and Theresa Yuhas; as well as her brothers and sisters, Victor, Greg and Anthony Winkler and Eve Irwin and Victoria Van Buren.

A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, with a memorial service following immediately at 6 p.m., at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London. Interment at the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery in Groton will be private.

I am beyond sad. Donna and I were so close. And had so much fun when we were kids. I wished I knew she lived so close, perhaps I could have helped the family. God bless you all.Love, Laura

You left us too soon Donna. I'm grateful for the times we were able to spend together and the opportunity to know you as more than a sister. The memories I'll most treasure are those moments we shared telling stories and enjoying laughter while sitting on your deck on cool summer evenings.
