Dorothy Maher Obituary

Uncasville - Dorothy A. Maher, 93, of Uncasville passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 7, at her home.

Born Dec. 18, 1930, in Fall River, Mass., to Thomas F. and Mary Rogers Dunlea. To all who knew her she was a very caring individual who had a smile to share. She loved her family and get togethers always brought her joy.

Dorothy had formerly lived in Groton and belonged to both the Groton and Montville Senior Citizens, a member of the Auxiliary of the Hugo Simonelli Post VFW in Mystic, Past President of the Groton Emblem Club and had also attended both St. John Church in Montville and also Sacred Heart Church in Groton.

She is survived by three daughters, Pamela Maher of Ledyard, Patricia Boyles and her son-in-law Thomas Boyles of Uncasville with whom she had made her home, and Mary MacCracken of Uncasville; two sisters, Maureen Moniz of Swansea, Mass., and Margaret Gagnon of Fall River, Mass.; grandchildren, Christopher Giacomazzo, Mallory, Erin and Ryan O'Connor, Kelsey, David and Kolt MacCracken; and great-grandchildren, Annabella DeLoach, Anthony and Carmine Chiarizio, Mannix, Rey and Emery O'Connor-Barnhill

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at the Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic. A luncheon will immediately follow at Andiamo, 247 Greenmanville Ave., Mystic, to celebrate her life and share memories. Please do not send flowers and instead make donations to the Montville Food Pantry, C/O Social Services, 310 Norwich-New London Tpke, Montville, CT 06382.
