Florence Josephine Tassone

1932 - 2024

Groton - Florence Josephine (Curasi) Tassone, passed peacefully in her home Aug. 23, 2024, with her beloved husband Ettore Tassone by her side. Florence was born and raised in The Bronx, N.Y., daughter of the late Giuseppe and Marianna (Biondo) Curasi.

Besides her beloved husband Ettore of nearly 41 years of marriage, she is survived by her twostep children, Lawrence Tassone and Lilliana Fulchiero; four grandchildren and their spouses: Brandon and Nicole Tassone, Rosanna and Clayton Brittingham, Graziella Fulchiero and Adrianna and Brendan Tracy; and two great-grandchildren, Poppy Rose Tassone and Emilia Brittingham. Florence came from a family of seven girls; and she is survived by two sisters, Helen Khawly and family and Lenora Geran and family. She is also survived and loved by all her nieces and nephews, and was like a second mother to all. She was predeceased by a son in-law, Andrea Fulchiero; and sisters: Mary Basiano, Catherine Daretta, Rose Fichera and Grace Lepore.

Her family will receive relatives and friends at 9 a.m. Friday morning at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 56 Sacred Heart Drive, Groton. Entombment will be in St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum, New London.
