Gary William "Jake" Browne

Quaker Hill - Gary ""Jake"" William Browne, of Quaker Hill, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather (and dog grandfather), entered eternal life Sept. 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, who will carry his love and memory with them forever, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

He was born Jan. 13, 1951, in New London the son of the late Guy and Marjorie (Jennings) Browne. He is survived by his beloved wife Daun (Longo) Browne of 38 years; his children, Jake and wife Nicole (Brochu) Browne, Patricia (Browne) and husband Chris Hawrylik, and Anthony Browne and girlfriend Meagan Tavares; sister Linda Herstein and was a cherished grandfather to Nathan, Sophia and Bailey Hawrylik.

A dedicated electrician and proud member of IBEW Local 90, New Haven. Jake took pride in his trade and was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to his family. Outside of work, he was an avid sports fan who rarely missed a Yankees or Giants game and enjoyed sharing that passion with loved ones. Above all Jake will be remembered for his passion, resilience, and the love he poured into his family. Though he fought a difficult illness, he did so with strength and courage, often beating the odds stacked against him; leaving an inspiring legacy for all who knew him.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, followed by a service at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to, The Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place west, 5th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-4669.
