Gloria Y. Mitchell

Teaticket, Mass. - Gloria Y. Mitchell of Teaticket, Mass., passed away Nov. 20, 2024, in the Falmouth Hospital at the age of 92. Gloria was born in Waterford, daughter of the late Arsyne and Albina Hamel. Gloria graduated from the Chapman Technical High School in New London, the Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing and Mitchell College in New London, where she specialized in pediatrics.

She had made Teaticket, Mass. her home since 1963. Gloria worked in the medical surgery department of Falmouth Hospital in Massachusetts where she was a registered nurse for 40 years. She retired in 1992 to care for her late husband Stewart. Gloria enjoyed traveling, reading and continued to be a bedside nurse for many years.

Wife of the late Stewart S. Mitchell. Mother of Annette Mitchell of Falmouth, Mass., Robert Mitchell and his wife Sharon of Teaticket, Mass., and James S. Mitchell of Teaticket, Mass. Sister of Rosemary Halter and her husband Larry Halter of South Carolina, the late Peter Hamel, Cecelia Gardner and Doris Brown. Grandmother of Robert Mitchell and his wife Abby, and Marissa Cishek and her husband Steve. Great-grandmother of Emerson, Avery and Eleanor Cishek.

Visiting hours will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25 in Chapman Funeral and Cremations, 475 Main Street Falmouth, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church Falmouth, MA.
