Harry Larsen Obituary

North Stonington - Harry J. Larsen, 85, of North Stonington, husband of the late Joyce (Bedell) Larsen, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at home.

Born in Bloomfield, he was the son of the late Harry and Mae (Burns) Larsen and has lived in North Stonington since 1993. Harry enlisted in the U.S. Navy, volunteered and proudly served during the Korean War until 1954 as a submariner.

He was active as a scout leader, church schoolteacher and deacon. His passion was boating, cruising the New England coastline and woodworking.

He is survived by his three sons, Kenneth R. Larsen of North Stonington, Keith M. Larsen of West Hartford and Kirk A. Larsen of New London; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Andrew, Sarah, Kelsey, Seth, Kalen and Tyler Larsen; and his two brothers, Jay Larsen of W.Va. and Robert Larsen and his wife of Haddam.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, at the First Baptist Church of North Stonington, 793 Pendleton Hill Road, North Stonington. Burial will follow with military honors at the Pendleton Hill Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Please no flowers.

I just read of Harry's passing today. 03-03-2019. I worked for Harry at the 5 corner's Mobil station during high school and as an undergraduate at CCSU. Harry taught me auto-mechanics,how to pull-out wrecks with his wrecker, plow snowing with his jeep, business management, and experience in meeting and dealing with customers. I believe I learned more from Harry than from three degrees in college. I remember Harry working on his boat in the fourth bay, and how he would instruct as how to clean the garage. He never knew how we actually got the garage floors so clean on Sundays. My best to the family and especially Jay...
