Helen Marion Killimade

Groton - Helen Marion Holland Killimade, 80, of Groton, wife of the late Joseph Killimade, passed into eternal life Nov. 24, 2021.

Born Feb. 27, 1941, in New London, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Holland and Helen (Reynolds) Holland of Groton. She was a graduate of Fitch Senior High in 1959 and led the marching band as a majorette, later teaching baton twirling.

She married the love of her life, Joseph Killimade in Groton Nov. 23, 1979.

Helen was a talented seamstress and owned her own business making draperies and slip covers. She was also a dedicated caretaker for many family members including her husband and also worked as a companion/caretaker for the Ames family in Groton; she also worked at Sojourner Inn and the NEX in Groton before retiring.

She is survived by two daughters, Meghan Killimade and partner, Chris Holdridge of Groton and Nancy Keyes Stoddard and husband, John of Missouri; granddaughter, Jillian Stoddard Chojnacki; and two great-grandchildren of Missouri; her sister, Kim Holland Kuhse of Groton; brother-in-law, EJ Smith of Gales Ferry; sister-in-law, Bunni Killimade Biladeau of Washington; and many dear nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Helen Holland; sisters, Patricia Porter, Priscilla Rorabaugh, Bev Mott; and a brother, Daniel "Sonny" Holland.

Her family will receive relatives and friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 in Mystic. A service will immediately follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Her burial will be private following the service.
