Henry Beckford Obituary
Henry grew up in Groton and he graduated from Ledyard High School in 1999. Henry pursued a career as a Veterinary Technician at Yale University, where he dedicated 18 years of service caring for animals with compassion and expertise.
Henry could often be found playing pickup games of basketball at Washington Park and Eastern Point Beach. His love for the game inspired spirited discussions about the NBA with friends and family. Henry also loved rap music, immersing himself in the beats and lyrics that spoke to his soul. Known for his quiet demeanor and kind heart, Henry touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether he greeted you with a smile or a corny joke, his warmth and genuine presence made him a cherished friend and family member. He will be remembered for his humility, generosity, and unwavering loyalty to those closest to him.
Henry leaves behind a grieving family, including his parents, Amanda and Henry Beckford Sr.; brothers, Jamal (Jessica) Beckford and Tristan (Kristen) Beckford; niece Xena and nephew Xander. Their memories of Henry will be a source of comfort and strength during this difficult time of loss.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Henry's life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, located at 310 Thames St. in Groton. Friends and family are welcome to join in paying their respects and sharing in the memories of a cherished individual who will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

Henry was the kindest person I have ever met and my heart breaks for the entire family. Every time I saw Henry his smile warmed my heart and his gentle manner inspired me to be a more compassionate person. Henry was one of the most genuine, kind, and sweet person. I had the pleasure and honor of being his friend for several decades.
