Ina Sheflott Obituary
Ina was born on Feb. 8, 1935, in New London, the daughter of Helen Elizabeth Gilmore and Leonard C. Sheflott. Ina was an accomplished basketball and softball player in her younger years and at Williams Memorial Institute where she graduated high school in 1953. She attended San Francisco State University majoring in music, specifically voice. When she returned to New London, Ina opened and was part owner of The Bit of San Francisco bar on Jefferson Avenue. She was a longtime member of the choir at Flanders Baptist and Community Church. Ina later worked for many years at Connecticut College.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, George and Leonard; and her nieces, Christina "Tina" Sheflott and Lea Sheflott.
Ina is survived by her sister, Mary-Anne Sheflott; her nephew, Steven Hall; and nieces, Loy Sheflott (Russell) and Charmian Hall (Valante); as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
Ina loved New London and especially the water and Ocean Beach Park. Ina was known to all for her kind spirit and love of life.
A celebration of her life is being scheduled for this summer.

I worked at the "Bit" for Ina and Dolly many years ago. I remember Ina as a kind and gentle spirit. She had a great sense of humor and was uplifting and fun to be around. My condolences to her family.

MaryAnn and Family, I remember Ina in happier times...I remember going to Ocean beach with Dickie and watching her play basketball . Those girls were good. Ina kindly sang at my wedding. She had a beautiful voice. She recovered my kitchen chairs as a wedding gift. That was so unique and personal and I was grateful. She was kind, talented and I admired her greatly. I know we'll miss her presence. I wish her peace. Our thoughts are with you. Love Kathy and Paul (DeAngelis)
