James Cassidy Obituary
James served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Electric Boat in Groton for 26 years as Lead Mechanical Designer of torpedo tubes. After leaving Electric Boat, he was employed at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, R.I., for 19 years where he contributed to several advanced submarine designs and holds several patents. After retirement, he also consulted with BAE Systems for several years.
James mastered the craft of woodworking to become an accomplished furniture maker. He credits his own signature design that adorns all the pieces he made. He enjoyed that hobby right up to the last day of his life.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 11, 2025, at Saint Michaels Archangel Church, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck. The burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to Toys for Tots. Marine Toys for Tots, 18251 Quantico Gateway, Triangle, VA.
